Empty seats at the end of the game even when we're winning
At the end of the Hull and Burnley games the ground started to empty out before the end even though we were clinging on to 3 much needed points. It looks fucking awful on tv, what with those seats being white..

I can only assume it's so folk can get to the stations quickly? Either way, it don't look good at all.

Some people have always left early, but I would imagine the often long 'round the houses' walk to the stations, the fact that 57k are kicking out, and the dire football (not to mention many new fans who don't have the passion for the club to stay and cheer them on through thick and thin) is to blame.

Re: Empty seats at the end of the game even when we're winning
When we started playing there I had a two minute walk to the closest station. That has turned into a 15 minute walk because the needs of away fans are put first. The empty seats at the end of games will be empty seats throughout the games next season if this continues.

Re: Empty seats at the end of the game even when we're winning
B - Sure. I caught the highlights of the Hull game last night and it just struck me how bad it looked, basically not what we are use to and expect at West Ham. You never saw that at UP when we were winning.

So this is going to be a case of if we're losing half the ground will empty after 80 mins, if winning some of the crowd will drift away.It makes us look mickey mouse.

Re: Empty seats at the end of the game even when we're winning
I always generally left early even at Upton Park, as I wanted to get to the bar before it was mobbed or had a long journey home for night matches.

People pay their money and can leave when they want and can fully understand some sneaking off early if it means they get home in an hour instead of 2, which it used to mean to me if I waited until the end.

Happens at all clubs, just looks worse at ours at the moment as there are loads of empty seats already.

People start leaving from about 70 mins onwards.

Grumps -If we were 1up at UP with 10 mins left you didn't see empty seats littered all about the place. Not a chance. Looks fucking ridiculous for us.

People left early at UP, but it didn't look as bad because the seats blended in with the colours

people have always left early, but not in the numbers like they are doing, have a look at my reasons posted below, i think that probably covers most bases.

The west stand half empty 2nd halves now and in the east stand where I sit, you get shufflings to leave as early as 75 min with plenty on the move with 10 to go, 5 min left thousands stream out.

mallard - Of course 'some' people always leave early, but you're eriously telling me that if we were in the last 10 mins of a big win at UP people were getting up and leaving in their droves?? Not a fucking chance.

It just made me think 'that is not West Ham'

" It looks fucking awful on tv.."

That's terrible for you, have you thought about a PRINTED letter of complaint?

Re: Empty seats at the end of the game even when we're winning
That's because it isn't West Ham United, dancer.

It's West Ham London, whose history begun to great fanfare a few months ago.

Oh, and the stadium is shit

PD

to be fair playing shit football and grinding out a narrow 1-0 win over the likes of hull and burnley, whilst much needed, couldn't really be described as big in comparison to if we were grinding that 1-0 out against chelsea etc. in those circumstances a lot more people would have stayed to the end.

I couldn't give a fuck about myself, you idiotic cunt. I'm referencing how fucking shit it must look to the football world who have been told we're a progressive football club..

Re: Empty seats at the end of the game even when we're winning
I've only been there 3 times, but I found it a bit of a nightmare getting to the station afterwards on the 2 occasions I stayed until the end.

Best transport links? I mean yeah great depending on where you're going back to, but for me it's fucking shite.

Will improve once Brady has her way and the real fans have been replaced by the clones who like being in that ground.

Football definitely isn't helping though.

Sven Roeder 9:35 Thu Dec 22
Re: Empty seats at the end of the game even when we're winning
Always said the best atmosphere at UP was often when we were being tonked and 20,000 people remained in the ground to get behind the team in adversity while the FILLER were down the road with 20 mins left.
We now have a situation where a lot of 'fans' don't even bother with Hull at home and leave early enmasse whether we are winning or losing.
Unless they stick around to get selfies with Alexis Sanchez.
There is a SICKNESS infecting the club at the moment.

I'm not entirely sure the football world give a flying fuck though mate?

Private Dancer 9:37 Thu Dec 22
Re: Empty seats at the end of the game even when we're winning
B - Of course not, but it's sending out the message that the move isn't working out at all, which then makes us look fucking foolish. Fact is people are laughing at us.

Re: Empty seats at the end of the game even when we're winning
I'm pretty sure that message has been sent out loud and clear already mate.
